Upload and organise documents
Create folders, drag files in, and keep the data room organised. Each file can be up to 1 GB, zip archives are unpacked, and you can rename, delete, download and export an index.
The Files tab is where you build up the content of a data room. You create folders, drag documents in, and manage them one by one or in bulk. The 1.2.3 numbers in the list give participants a fixed structure to navigate by.
The data room is an add-on module. The Files tab exists on every room, but uploading requires an active room — an archived room is read-only and cannot be uploaded to or shared.
1Create a folder
Open the room and go to the Files tab. Click New folder. Name the folder in the e.g. 01 · Legal field and click Create.
e.g. 01 · Legal Create
A naming scheme like "01 Legal", "02 Property" and so on works together with the index numbering and keeps the order predictable for every participant.
2Upload files
Click Upload files, or drag files and folders straight into the list. During a drag it shows Drop the files here to upload. Folders you drag in are recreated with their subfolders.
Each file can be up to 1 GB. Files under 50 MB are sent in a single call, while larger files up to 1 GB are sent in several parts (multipart). If a file is too large it shows {name} is too large (max 1 GB), and the rest of the upload continues. If you drag in a zip file it is unpacked so the individual documents land in the data room. If unpacking fails it shows {name} could not be extracted.
Pack a whole case folder into a single zip and drag it in. It unpacks into separate documents, so you avoid uploading file by file.
3Rename, delete, download and open
Every file and folder has a menu with the actions Rename, Delete, Download and Open.
When you delete, you confirm with the text The content is removed from the data room for all participants. Deleting a folder removes the folder and all its contents.
If downloads are disabled for the room, the file shows Downloads are disabled instead of the download action.
4Select several and delete in bulk
Use Select all or tick individual rows. The counter shows {count} items selected, and you can clean up with Delete selected. The confirmation explains that the selected files and folders are removed for all participants.
5Index and export
The list automatically shows 1.2.3 numbers, so each document has a fixed reference — handy in Q&A and checklists. The numbering is controlled by the index numbering setting, which is on by default.
Click Export index (CSV) to download a CSV with the full document structure. Each file also shows its own view counter, for example {count} views.
6Preview
Click Open to view a file without downloading. PDF and Office documents are shown inline, and you can page through with previous/next or open a full view.
Spreadsheets above 15 MB or with more than 8 sheets are not previewed. For file types without a preview it shows Preview is not available for this file type — there you can download the file instead.
